| Budget 2007: A new a bio-energy establishment scheme has been introduced to provide grants to farmers interested in planting willow and miscanthus for the generation of heat and electricity.
The Budget also increased the grants scheme for renewable energy for 'greener' homes by €5m to almost €10 million next year. The scheme provides grants for technologies such as solar panels. |

Other.... Greener domestic home scheme
The government has launched a grant aid scheme for domestic renewable heat technologies. The scheme called the "Greener Homes" allows individual householders to obtain grants for the installation of renewable technologies including wood pellet stoves and boilers, solar panels and geothermal heat pumps. Grant aid of €1,100 to €6,500 will be provided depending on the individual technology used.
The "Greener Homes" Scheme is being administered by Sustainable Energy Ireland. Details and application forms are available on the SEI's website www.sei.ie/greenerhomes
